GRE Verbal Overview
- 50% vocabulary, 50% reading comprehension
General Vocabulary Rigor Recommendation
Daily study of 15+ words
- Morning: Study new words for the day
- Afternoon: Review that day's new words
- Evening: Review all active words
Weekly review of vocabulary study
- Review all active words for the week
- Retire active words that you are certain of
Monthly review of vocabulary study
- Review all completed words to that point to confirm retention
*Prioritize words you 'kinda' know & question words from practice drills or exams immediately for addition*
*Randomize review, don't alphabetize*
Vocabulary Review Content Needs
- Flashcards or preferred web app
- 1) definition that is clear, concise, and include secondary definition if required (e.g. flag)
- 2) include synonyms, not sentences
- 3) Roots & affixes
Possible Vocabulary Resources
- Flashcards: Prefer self-creation, pre-created okay if they include or can be altered to include the three points above
- Princeton Review, Manhattan Prep, Barron's
- Phone Apps: Brainscape, Galvanize Vocab Builder, Magoosh Vocab Flashcards
