Finding a Tutor

Millions of students seek private tutoring each and every year.  Given overcrowded classrooms, overworked and underpaid teachers, and the increasing competitiveness of the college admissions process, this is not a surprise.

In New Partnership, MyGuru to help Elite Illinois Ice Hockey Players with Tutoring & Test Prep Services

As CYA’s Official Academic Partner, MyGuru has agreed to provide discounted tutoring and test prep services to CYA players, families, and friends. MyGuru’s tutors will also be able to travel directly to the rink to work with players before or after practice, if that’s most convenient for them. For high school sophomores and juniors, 1-1 or small group ACT & SAT prep sessions will be available. Benefits of Online Education

The founders of MyGuru all attended well known undergraduate institutions (Northwestern University, Indiana Univeristy, University of Missourri) and obtained their MBAs from very high priced, yet very respected graduate schools (i.e., Northwestern/Kellogg & University of Chicago/Booth).  So, we are very much proponents of the "traditional" eductional track and generally skeptical of the value of for-profit colleges and many "distance" education programs.

MyGuru's Launch

MyGuru launched in late January of 2010.  We are a local tutoring & test prep organization which focuses on providing 1-1, customized help to students in and around Chicago.  Our tutors are: certified teachers, PhD students at Northwestern University, holders of MBAs and JDs, and professionals currently working for premier organizations in Chicago.  Our test prep services combined expert tutors with "off the shelp" test prep books and offical practice tests to create efficient and highly customized 1-1 test prep solutions.
